Introduction and Experience

karpatkey is a DeFi-native organisation specialising in professional DAO finance through industry-leading research and tooling since 2020. We’ve been working with GnosisDAO, Balancer, ENS, CoW Protocol, and Lido on financial planning, operations, and strategy, diversifying their treasuries into sustainable portfolios of DeFi investments designed to support DAOs in executing their missions.

Our involvement in governance is driven by a commitment to decentralization, financial sustainability, and active engagement. We believe in fostering resilient ecosystems by ensuring responsible treasury management, encouraging broad participation, and supporting proposals that strengthen the protocol’s security and utility.

Why karpatkey

Obol’s mission to enhance Ethereum’s decentralization through Distributed Validator Technology aligns with our broader vision of supporting infrastructure that improves network resiliency and security. In governance, we prioritize proposals that reinforce decentralization, strengthen Obol’s validator ecosystem, and introduce mechanisms that support sustainable growth. Our decision-making is research-driven, with a focus on balancing long-term protocol health and financial sustainability.

We believe that transparent and well-structured governance processes are key to ensuring broad participation. As a delegate, we are committed to evaluating each proposal carefully, engaging with the community, and publicly sharing our voting rationale. Governance should be open and accessible, and we encourage active participation from all stakeholders.

Voting Power and Governance Participation

karpatkey currently holds approximately 286,680 OBOL in delegated voting power. As a top delegate, we remain highly engaged in the governance process, monitoring proposals closely, participating in discussions, and ensuring that our votes align with the long-term interests of the protocol. We have voted on all major proposals to date and will continue to maintain a high level of participation.

Delegate Communication Intent

This thread serves as a space to provide regular updates on our governance activity. We will share our voting rationale for each decision to ensure transparency and help the community understand the reasoning behind our positions. Governance is an evolving process, and we welcome feedback and discussion on the issues that shape Obol’s future.

Disclosure

karpatkey actively participates in the governance of multiple protocols, including Aave, Uniswap, Safe, and Arbitrum. We also manage treasuries or serve on treasury committees for projects like Balancer, GnosisDAO, and ENS. Our treasury holds a diverse portfolio of crypto assets. While we approach each governance process independently, we will disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may arise in relation to our votes.

Waiver of Liability

By delegating to karpatkey, you acknowledge that we participate in governance on a best-efforts basis. We are committed to making informed and responsible decisions but cannot guarantee any specific outcomes. All votes are cast in good faith and without liability for any potential impact on the protocol or its stakeholders.

Get Involved

We encourage OBOL holders to actively participate in governance by delegating to engaged delegates, discussing proposals, and shaping the future of the Obol Collective. If you have any questions or would like to discuss governance topics, feel free to reach out in this thread.

Voting Actions March 6th - 11th

Proposal: OIP-1: Building and Enabling Staking for the OBOL Token

Vote: Voted in favor

We voted in favor of this proposal because staking is a key tool for strengthening governance participation and token utility. The introduction of stOBOL provides a mechanism for long-term engagement while enabling new DeFi integrations. The updated 6-month trial period for rewards ensures the system is tested without committing to long-term inflation, which we see as a responsible approach. We believe staking will help establish a stronger governance structure while creating additional utility for OBOL holders. We will continue monitoring its impact and support further refinements to ensure it remains sustainable.

Proposal: OIP-2: Unlocking the OBOL Token

Vote: Voted in favor

We voted in favor of unlocking OBOL because it is a necessary step toward decentralization and broader participation. Making the token transferable allows more stakeholders to engage in governance, trade, and potential integrations across DeFi. The proposal ensures a structured and coordinated unlock process, aligning with planned exchange listings to support a smooth transition. As Obol enters this new phase, ensuring thoughtful resource allocation will be key to sustaining long-term growth and governance engagement. While unlocking introduces market dynamics, we believe it is the right move at this stage of Obol’s growth. We support this as a foundation for the next phase of adoption and governance evolution.
