Delegate Rules of Engagement
This document outlines the expectations, responsibilities, and values that should guide interactions within the Obol Collective governance community, including the Obol Forum, Discord, and working group meetings. This Code of Conduct will be reviewed periodically to incorporate feedback and adapt to governance needs. Any changes require community approval through the governance process.
Please review these principles carefully to ensure alignment with the Obol Collective’s vision and commitment to a decentralized and sustainable ecosystem.
Delegates should
- Act with integrity (honesty and transparency in disclosing affiliations).
- Show commitment to Obol’s vision (prioritizing the ecosystem’s long-term health).
- Uphold professionalism (fostering a respectful, harassment-free environment).
Delegate Responsibilities
- Active Participation: Engage actively in discussions, proposals and voting, and be accessible to the community.
- Due Diligence and Communication: Review proposals thoroughly and communicate vote rationales.
- Civility and Conduct Standards: Treat all members respectfully, especially in disagreements. Feedback should be constructive, avoiding personal attacks. Unacceptable behaviors include harassment, offensive language, and privacy violations.
Conflicts of Interest and Accountability
- Transparency in Voting: Disclose conflicts of interest before voting, especially if there’s a personal or financial gain.
- Avoidance of Self-Dealing: Refrain from voting on proposals that benefit you financially unless fully disclosed to and approved by the community.
- Accountability: Consistent engagement is expected, and inactivity may lead to removal from responsibilities.
Reporting Violations and Enforcement
- Reporting Procedure: Violations can be reported through a designated process in the Obol Forum or reporting tool.
- Enforcement: Infractions may lead to warnings, suspension, or removal by a governance administrator acting on behalf of the Obol Association, with an option to appeal. Severe violations may result in permanent suspension.
