Conflict Resolution and Enforcement Procedure

Delegate - Conflict Resolution and Enforcement

As our community grows and evolves, maintaining a respectful and collaborative environment becomes increasingly essential. To ensure that all members feel safe and valued, we are introducing a comprehensive Conflict Resolution and Enforcement Procedure. This framework outlines the processes and guidelines for addressing conflicts, enforcing community standards, and fostering accountability.

Conflict Resolution between Delegates

The Association, as a steward of the Collective, is responsible for overseeing Conflict Resolution Management. In general, it is our belief that many conflict issues can be resolved quickly and easily if approached in good faith by each party. Delegates and community members are encouraged to first address the behavior directly in private. If the matter is unable to be resolved for any reason, or if the behavior is threatening or harassing, report it to the Obol Association using this form. The Obol Association will have final say on the issue and reserves the right to determine if the issue should be brought to the attention of the community as a whole.

Conflict Resolution Procedure With Association

If delegates are unable to resolve their conflicts independently, the Association will intervene to ensure a fair and constructive resolution. After this form is submitted, the Association will appoint a neutral mediator to assess the situation, facilitate communication, and guide the parties toward a mutual understanding. If mediation fails or the conflict escalates, the Association will initiate a formal investigation to gather facts, consult relevant parties, and determine an appropriate resolution in line with community guidelines. The Association’s priority is to uphold transparency, fairness, and community values, ensuring that disputes do not hinder collaboration or the collective mission. Please consider that:

  • The identity of a submission author will not be publicly disclosed by the Association without the author’s consent.
  • Submission authors and/or the delegates in question may be contacted by the Association for additional information, if necessary.

Enforcement

There are a variety of possible enforcement actions, depending on the severity of the offense:

Enforcement Type Type of Violation Consequence
Warning First instance of inappropriate language or other behavior deemed unprofessional or unwelcome in the community, which is not already flagged by moderators. A private, written warning from the Association, providing clarity around the nature of the violation and an explanation of why the behavior was inappropriate. A public apology may also be requested.
Temporary Suspension A serious violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior. A temporary ban, lasting the length of 1 month, from Discourse. No public or private interaction with the community members involved, including unsolicited interaction with those enforcing the Delegate Rules of Engagement. Violating these terms may lead to longer term suspension.
Suspension Repeated violation of community standards, including sustained inappropriate behavior, or severe violation, including discrimination, harassment, intentional doxxing, dishonesty, or undisclosed self-dealing. If a vote for suspension is approved by the Token House, the delegate will be suspended from Discourse and any sort of interaction within the community for a period of three months.
