Intention to Cancel the Proposal “Shutdown of the Obol Association”
In agreement with all members of the Cancel Committee:
- Obol Association (@Leo_jou)
- Obol Labs (@kodysale)
- stefa2k.rocklogic.eth (delegate representative)
We are preparing to cancel the above proposal, using the procedural authority granted to the committee. The cancellation is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 16th, and will proceed barring any unforeseen issues.
Procedural Requirements Not Met
Context
This proposal was submitted by an anonymous wallet that appears to have acquired just enough OBOL tokens to meet the minimum proposal threshold. It bypassed all standard process steps and surfaced no rationale or intent to the community prior to appearing on the voting portal.
As outlined in OIP-5, the cancel function exists strictly to enforce governance process requirements, not to judge the content or legitimacy of specific proposals. In this case, it is clear that the minimum standards of transparency, support, and procedure were not met.
We are sharing this notice in advance to remain fully transparent with the community. If no blocking issue arises, the cancellation will be executed onchain on Wednesday, July 16th.
