The SQUAD Goals Framework

The SQUAD framework is a structured, collaborative, cyclical approach to goal-setting that promotes transparency, inclusivity, and adaptability. Inspired by best-in-class governance models, it provides a clear structure to align contributors around shared priorities while remaining responsive to change.

Annual Goal Expectations

The yearly cadence strikes a balance between long-term vision and operational agility. It offers contributors enough time to pursue meaningful progress on strategic initiatives while ensuring there’s a regular opportunity to recalibrate goals based on shifting priorities, contributor feedback, and ecosystem developments. This rhythm keeps the community grounded in purpose—without becoming rigid or stagnant. The Association proposes each cycle starts on April, 1st.

The SQUAD Goals Annual Cycle

  • Pre-Cycle Notice: The Obol Association issues an official notice before a new SQUAD Goals cycle begins, outlining key dates and context.
  • Discussion & Proposal Phase: 2-weeks based on timelines described on the Token House documentation. Emphasis is placed on alignment with collective goals and clarity of purpose. Anyone can submit a comprehensive proposal of SQUAD Goals.
  • Voting Phase: 1-week based on timelines described on the Token House documentation. Delegates vote to signal on the whole SQUAD Goals proposal to move forward.
  • Annual Review & Iteration: On a 12-month cycle, the process is reviewed and updated. Goals are assessed for:
    • Completion or progress
    • Continued relevance
    • Environmental or strategic shifts

By keeping the process open, structured, and iterative, the SQUAD framework ensures that Obol’s governance remains both flexible and mission-driven, allowing decentralized actors to align without rigid management structures.
