Dear Obol Community,
We are issuing a market structure update regarding the trading venues for $OBOL.
To ensure efficient price discovery and deeper order books, we are proactively consolidating liquidity from low-volume venues to our primary hubs. Due to this consolidation, trading the $OBOL token on Bitget will soon no longer be available.
This decision is driven strictly by spot volume on that specific venue and is not a reflection of the protocol’s fundamentals or health. By focusing liquidity on our deepest markets, we are working to establish a more resilient trading environment.
Why we are consolidating:
-
Tighter Spreads: Concentrating liquidity allows for more efficient price formation and tighter spreads for traders.
-
Cleaner Order Books: Focusing market-making resources on primary venues eliminates thin, inefficient order books that result in high slippage.
-
Operational Focus: This is a market structure adjustment. There are no changes to the Obol protocol, our technical roadmap, or our adoption metrics.
Trading continues uninterrupted. We remain focused on shipping our roadmap and supporting the adoption of Distributed Validators (DVs).
In parallel, we want to acknowledge a broader shift happening across the ecosystem: Onchain liquidity is increasingly becoming the gold standard for long-term token markets. This is reflected in how many centralized exchanges are evolving toward DEX-powered interfaces and routing. OBOL’s consolidation toward Uniswap aligns with this direction. Onchain liquidity offers greater transparency, stronger guarantees, and closer alignment with core Ethereum values like permissionless access and credible neutrality.
We will share more details in a follow-up piece, but this update is an early step toward a market structure that prioritizes Ethereum-native liquidity above off-chain alternatives.
Looking Ahead: This update addresses the market structure around $OBOL in the immediate term. We also remain committed to evolving $OBOL’s economics and will share the findings from our research soon. We look forward to engaging in follow-up discussions with the community.
Thank you.
