What is Distributed Validator Technology?

Distributed validator technology, or DVT, is a critical security primitive that allows a single Ethereum validator to be run on a cluster of nodes working together as a distributed validator. This provides an active-active redundancy such that when a certain number of nodes go down (i.e. 1 of 4, 2 of 7, 3 of 10, etc.), the distributed validator cluster will still operate normally.

Running a single validator across multiple machines improves the security and resiliency of each validator, making it much easier for organisations and individuals to operate validators. This also allows multiple individuals or organisations to come together to operate a single validator, lowering the bonding requirement for each individual while improving resistance to operator failure.
